Melanie Kahwaji

Melanie Kahwaji is an Articling Student at Fomcenco Law.

​

Melanie received her LL.B. at the University of Birmingham. She was presented with a Gold Award by the Centre for Professional Legal Education and Research in recognition of her outstanding commitment to professional development. Melanie was the first-ever Director for The Refugee Project as part of the European Law Students' Association. She led and implemented a refugee project aimed at providing personal, educational, and professional support for the Birmingham refugee community.

Melanie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and a Police Studies Certificate from Simon Fraser University. In her undergrad, she helped design and launch the social media campaign "Voices Against Extremism" as part of her Advanced Issues in Cybercrime course. The focus was to humanize refugees and minority groups through education, respect, and empowerment to effect social change. 

​

She also co-founded a pro-bono initiative called CARE Student Advocacy, which provides support for parents of students who need assistance with formal communications with schools. 

​

In her spare time, Melanie enjoys photography, travel, the outdoors, and content creation.
